About
PDX Comic Geek was born out of my passion for 1) comics, and 2) Portland. This blog will not be a review blog, although I’m somewhat smitten with my twitter-friendly review format. Rather, I want to focus on the experience of reading (and buying) comics–the locations that suit me best and the books that I bring with me. Part cultural anthropology, part love fest. I’m sure there will be distractions along the way, but that is my intent. Hope you like it.

Hey, Scott,
I, too, love comics and Portland. After reading the recent Willamette Weekly article about Diamond Distributers raising the requirements for their distribution of comics ( and, more importantly, the resulting loss of business and exposure of smaller, independent comics), I felt compelled to do something.
A fellow comic aficionado suggested I might offer to write for an existing blog (I have no interest in starting my own blog), particularly on comics that are less known. Your blog came up in conversation.
After reading your comment on this blog not being a review blog, you may have absolutely no interest in this discussion. But even if you don’t, you may have an idea where I may offer writing to help comics books (particularly independents) thrive.
BTW, I’m a comics reader since 1978. Stared with Conan, Spiderman and the X-Men. Followed most of Cerebus. Into American Flag. Now read alot of DC; JLA, Batman, etc. Caught the latest Punisher Mini. I am also following The Boys, Ex Machina, and wish to hell that Fell and Powers issues were still coming out.
Dom
Hi Scott, Great site! If I’m out of line with my message to Dominic below, feel free to delete it and accept my apologies.
Hey Dominic, if you don’t work something out with Scott, please take a moment to check out my website and let me know if you’d be interested in writing for us.
Thanks,
Joe
Happy to help make such connections! Dom has written one thing (a review of Air), and we’ve had initial discussions about a “Battle Royale” type of article based on an initial draft he’d done re: writing vs. art in comics (and which is more important), but other than that, we’ve both been busy.
